## Introduction

Fiende is a new entity spawned out of the Norwegian underground. The band has two main members; Audun on drums (also in *Svarttjern* and *Carpathian Forest*) and Skaar (ex-*Course of Fate*) taking care of the vocals and strings. For their live set up they are accompanied by Berserk and Haate on guitars (know from *Scars*, *Befouled* and *Infernal*).

This being their debut EP I went into this with no preconcieved notion of what they would sound like, so this was exciting for sure, let's crawl deeper into Fiendes dark and mysterious dungeon.

## Snart er Alt Glemt

**Tracklist:**

1. Eldritch Fire
2. Skrømt
3. Svovelpredikant
4. Ad Nekropolis

Considering this is a short 22 minute EP there is quite a bit of variety on offer. First track, Eldritch Fire, kicks open the door and smacks you right in the face, this is how to make an entrance. It quickly settles into a *Satyricon*\-esque groove that makes your head bob along with the beat. If this was at a concert this would be the kind of song that would have you looking at the guy next to you and both would give a nod of approval and an evil grin.

Skrømt takes a more measured approach with some somber guitar noodling to lure you in before it slowly builds. It keeps this build up going until it goes into a blast beat inferno.

Third track, Svovelpredikant, sounds like the bastard child of *Satyricon* and *Khold*, a very nice pound your chest stomper.

Final track, Ad Nekropolis is their most ambitious work on this EP. It has the church bells and acoustic guitar that puts you in the right mood for what's to come. A great way to end.

## Conclusion

Fiende's debut is a well crafted collection of songs that showcases their blend of styles, incorporating doom and crust punk into their second wave inspired black metal, making it both fresh and nostalgic at the same time. If you're a fan of *Khold* and 2000's era *Satyricon* this should be a must listen. I am very excited for what their future beholds as this is a very promising start.

**BMZ Score: 8 out of 10**
