While the band's debut thoroughly indicated potential, their March 2026 release in my view is a triumphal delivery of a signature-sound defining coalescence of elements I would consider a very rare union between Black Metal that meets high-fidelity modern music production standards, and nuanced raw black metal elements people who prefer lo-fi black metal tend to look for. ## Memories of Fire Track Listing: 1. Awaken the Conquerors 2. Break them Against the Mountains 3. Siege of Eternity 4. Imperishable Flame 5. Shadows on the Storm 6. Leave Me Where I Fall 7. Memories of Fire "Memories of Fire" features quite a lot of other metal-genre elements that sound strategically amalgamated with a consistently present bold-flavored Black Metal foundation; especially Heavy Metal elements. Additional notable elements "Memories of Fire" managed to unite are small amounts of punk elements with their style; particularly with the first track's transitional vocal motifs that briefly introduce different sections for example. This sophomore album in my view illuminates exactly where Fire Magic is positioned on a path that inevitably leads towards mastery. It's an album that checks every box in my book for this "type" of Black Metal. Without disrespecting the band with "for fans of" comparisons, the originality present throughout these songs reminds me of why Conifère's 2024 full-length debut is such a notable record. The production quality is very similar too. They're almost the same length too so it's a good benchmark, although musically those bands are very different; albeit equally original. That's not an easy or common high-bar for new releases to size up with either. In Fire Magic's unique way, "Memories of Fire" raises the bar to similar heights, and in at least a few ways would consider "Memories of Fire" to be a slightly better album. ## Conclusion: The replay value of the tracks both individually and for the entire record as a whole is exceptionally high. Fire Magic establishes their own "signature sound" that hooked me right away. From the beginning to end, "Memories of Fire" is an album that feels natural to listen to the whole album on repeat a few times. The production aspect (recording/mixing) sounds like a model example of "High Fidelity Raw Black Metal" for this particular style. I can tell the band and the band's mix engineer (Dan Gargiulo), who's also a live member, all have a seasoned ear for the genre.
