## Introduction

Brazilian black metal band **Outlaw** is back with a new record, to be released on the 31st of October this year. The band itself shouldn't need any introduction I think as this will be their forth full album, but to be honest, I first became aware of the by the time of their second album. I don't have much familiarity withth their first album *Path to Darkness*.

## Opus Mortis

**Tracklist:**

1. Blaze of Dissolution
2. Through the Infinite Darkness
3. The Crimson Rose
4. A Million Midnights
5. Those Who Breath Fire
6. A Subtle Intimation
7. Ruins of Existence

As said **Outlaw** return this Halloween with their fourth full-length, *Opus Mortis*, released via AOP Records. Following *The Fire in My Tomb* (2020) and *Reaching Beyond Assiah* (2023), this record feels like the band has stripped things down to the core and pushed forward with malignant intent.

From the opening moment, the album is a barrage. This is a brutal album, there are *some* softer short parts, with the use of some atmospheric build ups and outros of songs - but mostly it's just a relentless surge that hardly lets up. For listeners who crave that kind of nonstop assault, *Opus Mortis* delivers in spades. It’s not about subtlety here; it’s about endurance, energy, and the will to keep pressing forward.

That said, one track does carve out a distinct space: *A Subtle Intimation;* it begins with a quiet, deceptive introduction, only to tear itself open moments later. The riff itself may not be the most innovative, but the way guitars and drums combine gives the track a drive that lingers long after it ends. It's a highlight without breaking the overall onslaught.

The production deserves recognition as well. Everything sits where it should; guitars cutting cleanly, drums with weight, vocals pushed forward enough to command without overshadowing. It's clear and powerful, but not sterile; polished without losing grit. **Outlaw** have found that balance where every strike lands but the atmosphere remains intact.

While the band stay true to black metal's uncompromising fury, there's also a melodic current running through *Opus Mortis*. This doesn’t soften the album, but it does open the door wider; making it an easy recommendation not only for diehards but also for those who want their black metal ferocious yet melodic.

In short, *Opus Mortis* is Outlaw at full throttle; furious, sharp, and unrelenting, but with enough depth to keep you coming back.

## Conclusion

Well that's it for my thoughts on the album. As said it will be released on the 31st of October and it will be worth the wait. To me this is a step up from their last album and in general I can say:

**Outlaw* delivers again.*

So who would I recommend this album too? Well everyone if you are into Black Metal at least give this album and band a try. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

**BMZ Rating: 8,5 out of 10**
