Vrajitor is perhaps best known outside of Warmoon Lord for Old Sorcery, his long-running dungeon synth project. That intersection is what makes Warmoon Lord so compelling, bringing the mystery and medieval grandeur found in dungeon synth into the harsher framework of black metal. Warmoon Lord has steadily refined that formula since 2019, moving from the rawer attack of "Burning Banners of the Funereal War" through the increasingly melodic and epic "Battlespells and Sacrosanct Demonopathy". Deófol-Cræft takes that established formula in a slightly different direction. The result is less overtly majestic than its predecessors, but arguably no less atmospheric. ## Deófol-Cræft *Track List:* 1. *Oratio Ad Draconem Rubrum* 2. *Mortification and Mastery* 3. *Deófles* 4. *Bloodsword* 5. *Night of Silver Fire* At just over twenty-two minutes, "Deófol-Cræft" is short and sweet. The opening “Oratio Ad Draconem Rubrum” establishes the EP's sinister character immediately, combining rapid-fire black metal with the layered guitar work that has become one of Warmoon Lord's greatest strengths. What makes the record particularly satisfying is the way those melodies are allowed to emerge from the aggression rather than simply being placed on top of it. Fans of Vrajitor's dungeon-synth work may initially notice that the keyboards are less dominant here. Instead of the sweeping, almost symphonic grandeur heard on "Sacrosanct Demonopathy", the atmospheric elements operate more subtly, appearing like distant echoes behind the guitars. The restraint works remarkably well as it leaves more room for the riffs themselves to create the sense of fantasy and desolation that has always been central to Vrajitor's music. “Mortification And Mastery” is a particularly forceful example of the EP's more aggressive character, while “Deófles” demonstrates that the melodic instincts have not disappeared beneath the grime. “Bloodsword,” meanwhile, delivers its attack in a brief, concentrated burst before “Night Of Silver Fire” brings the record toward its conclusion with a darker and more atmospheric character. There is something refreshing about hearing Warmoon Lord embrace this rougher edge. The project clearly understands the language of early-to-mid-90s black metal, but the songwriting is strong enough that this never feels like simple historical reenactment. The dungeon-synth influence is still present in the sense of scale, fantasy, and atmosphere, even when the synthesizers themselves retreat into the background. ![](https://blackmetalzine.com/content/images/2026/09/1000032940.jpg) ## Conclusion "Deófol-Cræft" is another strong chapter in Warmoon Lord's evolution. Rather than simply repeating the grandeur of Sacrosanct Demonopathy, Vrajitor strips away some of the ornamentation and allows the guitars, atmosphere, and raw aggression to carry more of the weight. The result is darker, dirtier, and more immediate without sacrificing the melodic character that makes Warmoon Lord so enjoyable. For listeners who appreciate black metal that can be both ferocious and genuinely evocative, Deófol-Cræft has plenty to offer. It demonstrates that the connection between dungeon synth and black metal is more than an aesthetic coincidence in Vrajitor's work, it is fundamental to how he builds atmosphere. Deófol-Cræft may be a leaner incarnation of Warmoon Lord, but beneath the sharpened edges is the same fascination with darkness, fantasy, melody, and otherworldly atmosphere that has made the project so rewarding in the first place.
