Introduction:
Fordæðuskapr is a relatively new Band founded 2022 in Bergen, Norway by none other than the mastermind behind Árstíðir Lífsins, Stefán Drechsler (known professionally as S.D.). Having released the debut full-length album late last year I somehow over looked it upon its release. But better late than never and this album fully deserves a review.
My Thoughts:
Being the first Album of the Band its always exciting to hear the songwriting style as opposed to having a few records under their belt for example like Megadeth...you hear the first few lines and instantly recognize that thats Dave Mustaine.

Fordæðuskapr is going to be like this, after going through the whole album their sound is just mesmerizing and definetly got me hooked. For instance its a rather distinctive guitar sound, rather bass heavy so it already pushes your emotions into some darker heavier territories while the lead guitars change between letting you breathe for a moment and enjoy a slight feeling of calmness like watching a storm inside a mountain cabin to completely blowing said cabins roof off and letting you sit in the rain frustrated and cold.
The vocals are just peak BM shrieks and remind a bit of early Carpathian Forest and suit the music really well. A nice atmospheric touch is also definetly added by the synths in the backround.
Conclusion:
Overall, it's definitely one of the best debut releases I've heard so far, and it's going to be played a lot. I'm very excited for the future of the band and wish them the best and hope the creativity stays that high. For me it's absolutely a 9/10 on the scoreboard, so check it out if you're not deaf and enjoy great atmospheric black metal.
