2. Content and Intellectual Property Rights

2.1 Ownership

3. Memberships

The Service offers a free membership tier. Creating an account is optional — all articles and content on the Service are freely accessible to everyone, whether you have an account or not. A free account provides the ability to sign in and out, subscribe to our newsletters, and manage your subscription preferences from your account settings page. The Service is and will remain ad-free.

3.2 Account Security

4. User Accounts and Contributions

4.1 Account Requirement

4.3 License to Black Metal Zine

By submitting User Contributions, you grant Black Metal Zine a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable, and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform your User Contributions in connection with the Service and our affiliated platforms (including social media). This license survives termination of your account.

4.4 Content Standards

You agree not to post any User Contributions that:

Are defamatory, obscene, indecent, abusive, offensive, harassing, violent, hateful, inflammatory, or otherwise objectionable.
Promote sexually explicit or pornographic material, violence, or discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age.

4.5 Moderation and Removal

Black Metal Zine reserves the right to review, edit, or remove any User Contribution at any time without notice and for any reason. We are not obligated to monitor User Contributions but may do so to ensure compliance with these Terms or applicable law.

By creating an account, you may be automatically opted-in to receive the Black Metal Zine newsletter. You may manage or opt-out of newsletter preferences at any time via your account settings page.

5. Music Submissions

5.1 Submission Acceptance

The Service accepts music submissions from bands, labels, and publicists for review consideration. Submissions may be sent via Bandcamp codes, download links, or physical copies, as described on the Submit Your Music page.

5.2 No Guarantee of Review

Submitting music does not guarantee that it will be reviewed. We listen to everything that comes in, but due to volume and limited volunteer time, not every submission results in a review. We do not commit to responding to every submission individually. If we review it, you will know — if we do not, it is nothing personal.

5.3 Submission License

By submitting music to Black Metal Zine, you grant us permission to listen to and evaluate your work for editorial purposes. If we choose to review it, you grant us permission to embed album artwork, Bandcamp players, or other publicly available promotional material in our review. We will credit the band, label, and any relevant parties. We do not host full album streams unless provided through official embeddable players (e.g., Bandcamp, YouTube).

5.4 Physical Copies

If you send physical copies (CDs, vinyl, tapes), we are unable to return them. They become part of our review archive. Please do not send originals or irreplaceable items.

5.5 Editorial Independence

No submission, payment, or relationship with a band or label guarantees a positive review or any review at all. Our reviews are independent editorial opinions and cannot be bought.

6. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at our sole discretion, without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms, misused the Service, or engaged in conduct harmful to Black Metal Zine or its community. You may delete your account at any time via your account settings or by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.

7. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service contains links to third-party websites and services, including social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Threads), Discord, Bandcamp, and YouTube. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy practices, or policies of these third-party sites. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

Our partnership with Black Metal Promotion (YouTube) is editorial in nature. Black Metal Promotion is a separate entity, and we are not responsible for its content or operations.
