Introduction

So despite my best efforts last year to chug enough lawnmower oil to send me straight to Valhalla, 2026 has unfortunately arrived and with it a whole slew of new releases. The first of which i’ll be looking at is the debut release ‘ Let Water Flow’ from italian trio Moon Wisdom.

Tracklist:
1. Secrets of the Heart
2.When Time Stood Still
3.Tudor Garden
4.Porcelain
5. Your Majesty
6. Midsummer

Rumination

On Let water flow, the italian trio showcases their own personal brand of melodic black metal over the span of almost half an hour.

There's a lot of fun stuff to offer with this album if you’re a fan of classic sounding moonlight filled 2nd wave.

The release liner notes talk about it having a lot of blackgaze and punk energy, which real talk, i dont hear it. I have no idea what they’re talking about, to me It has a lot more of an evil black symphonic/melodic vibe to it.

Regardless, it’s a deeply vibey release and does exactly what you’d want from an album with an album cover like that.

Honestly between stuff like this or One of Nine or the new upcoming Worm album, I think we’re in the midst of unabashed mid to late 90s cheesewave worship, If you’re a fan of  headbanging to multiple widdly diddly guitar solos per song and evil as f*ck riffs you’ll likely gel with this.

Conclusion

Overall, this is a fun release to start the year on and a solid debut from Moon Wisdom. If you’re more into the riffy, spellbound, melodic black metal side of things, this is a good way to spend half an hour.

BMZ Rating 7.5 out of 10
