Introduction

The Black Metal cult surrounding the mythical Sun God B’ahn delivered again their prophecys. After reviewing their debut last year I was more than excited when i saw they released a follow up EP. Keep your altars ready as I walk you through this record.

The Inevitable Suffering

Tracklist:

  1. Over Ten Thousand Spears, B’ahn Rises Red
  2. The Night That Knows No Dawn
  3. Dread Is the Consort of the Dark
  4. As Oars Through Blood
  5. …and so Across the Bloody Lake We Did Sail in Silence

With a runtime of 20 minutes I will present you my quick thoughts about this EP then you can listen to it and form your own opinion.

Over Ten Thousand Spears, B’ahn Rises Red starts the EP just like I hoped for, a really well composed cinematic synth entry to unleash the suffering on those unwilling to follow the unchallenged God B’ahn.

The second track is just like I remember Necht, uncompromised black metal. Hitting hard, fast and with a sound quality that needs to be matched by other independent bands. A well structured flawlessly executed track.

Dread is the Consort of the Dark picks off just where the previous track left with the same raw energy and vocals that will leave a mark on your mind. Disgusting bass mixed really audible with great skill. The song itself is like the previous released stuff; a technical great composition, being brutally straight forward yet melodic.

As Oars Through Blood is my favourite on this release, a bit more restrained on the tempo but with such a great bass solo interlude that I was instantly hooked and will have it playing on repeat for the next weeks. Completely out of this world were the spoken passages that really heightened this track to a different level for me.

The last track is again a synth thrack that perfectly ends the EP and lets you hope for more to come.

Conclusion

20 minutes of Canadian perfection. If you haven’t been convinced by my previous review , try it again. A band that has a bright future and needs to get the attention that they deserve and I am happy to support them on their way. Really interested on whats to follow so to summarize it: They topped their album with this masterpiece of an EP.
