The Album
Tracklist:
- Hellheimr
- Morningstar
- Wolfbane
- Yggdrasil

The Fall of Yggdrasil opens with “Hellheimr”, a captivating and melodic instrumental track featuring orchestral elements and some cool chanting bits. It's an extremely cinematic piece and a very befitting intro to an album. The next track of the EP “Morningstar” wastes no time at all in letting us know what we are in for here. This is melodic black metal. Gripping, catchy riffs and hooks. The vocals are quite unique here and I rather enjoy them. They're very reminiscent of folk metal vocals, albeit with some heavier contrasting growls and screams. “Wolfbane” follows suit, again with more catchy melodic riffage. The guitar work on the EP is probably my favorite aspect of it. It's groove heavy and has some great melodies. The closing track “Yggdrasil” is my personal favorite off the EP.
Conclusion
It's a great debut EP. However rather short, it's a satisfying listen, leaving you wanting more. It's cohesive and offers up some great production. The music itself is an interesting blend of melodic black metal, thrash, and folk. Looking forward to hearing a full length album in the hopefully near future.
