Rumination
Following on from last years release Z mieczem na gwiazdy, Garota returns with a punchy 22 minute release with Strąceni w ciemność. This short release rides on the same highs of the last release giving the listener another shot of brutal f*ck you black metal straight to the jugular, albeit wth a more pensive atmospheric vibe than the previous release to my ears.
All sponsored content sounding posting aside, man i just really f*cking like this kind of black metal Hey, I listen to so much post/atmospheric stuff that its nice to occasionally just go for that fast brutal impaled nazarene style black metal. But a band like Garota really does a cracking job with this stuff because they seem to have this sound that i can’t hear anywhere else other than Poland. Its such a unique self assured strain of vicious black metal and it seems to mix really intense black metal with that kind of classic black n roll vibe. But none of it ever feels dated or cheesy, its just such a naturally gutsy sound coming from bands like this or Gruzja or UDRĘKA. There can be no doubt that what Poland is offering at the moment is so consistently sick.
And honestly amongst that Garota really deserves a special mention, tracks like "Korona Zepsucia" just have such a intense anger and bitterness to them thats so hard to fake. Truly it sounds like being casually thrown from this life into an uncaring abyss.
Conclusion
If you dig Polish black/thrash thats chock full of riffs this is one to check because the songwriting is f*cking impressive. Dont snooze.
