Introduction
Plaguepreacher is a band I have followed since the release of their EP "Terracide" in 2021. I have seen them live several times and I really enjoyed this band of filthy f*cks. I was naturally curious if their madness was sufficient for a full-length album.

The album begins with the atmospheric intro "Dawnfall" and goes directly into a very aggressive track. The first thing I notice is that the production is excellent on this album. Surprisingly, good actually. What I really enjoy about Plaguepreacher is that they understand black metal. They are dirty, filthy people soaked in blood and guts. I feel this element is missing from a lot of “modern” black metal.
This band appeals to me on many levels. The sparse use of keyboards are tasty. Not overdone at all. I really enjoy the fuzzy bass. The angry guitars and the vocals are really fitting for the music style. The album is well produced from beginning to end, and it has a rich variety of moods and tempos. This is a well-crafted album of old school black metal that never gets boring. It is true black metal, just the way I like it.
Are they original? Not really, and I suspect they’re not trying to be either. What you hear is what you get here. No surprises. Just a very well-made album from start to finish.
Conclusion
The Austrians have crafted a really enjoyable album. I have listened through it many times the past month and I would say this is an album that grows on you. I keep returning to it and I enjoy playing it for my old school black metal friends, who also seem to enjoy it a lot. There is not much to say really, except - If you are into old school black metal, you should definitely check them out. It’s really nice to see that some people from this generation actually understand black metal and keep the black flame burning.
