Introduction
Reverie is a relatively new band in the dark realm of depressive black metal, having come into existence just one year ago. That being said they wasted no time. Best part about Reverie is, it’s a one man band and he has already released three EP’s this year. I am already excited what next year will bring from this entity.
September
Tracklist:
- Headache
- September
With a title like that it was either well timed or a complete coincidence but I bet it’s the first – the album was released in September, hence the autumn is upon us. It’s a rather short EP with a runtime of roughly 18 minutes and both tracks are purely instrumentals but please don’t let that push you away from it. The two songs “Headache” and “September” are very well written and structured. The riffs are very repetetive and let you really immerse yourself in it’s cold void, yet they seem to drift of into the subcounciousness of your mind and let you experience the the same feelings of despair and loneliness as the man behind it projects into it. That being said the 18 minutes of runtime just passed way to quickly. My hopes are high that more material will follow soon.
Conclusion
Definetly a must for fans of Leviathan and later Xhastur records. Well written and repetetive instrumentals that leave hope of whats to follow. Definetly an artist that will stay on my watchlist for the future.
BMZ Score 7,5/10
