Introduction

Rhûn is a Black Metal Band from Portland, USA. Their founder Aaron Charles is also the mastermind behind Falls of Rauros and decided to start this side quest for material that would not be suitable for the themes he usually explores within his main project.

Burial Pact

Tracklist:

  1. Initiation
  2. Burial Pact
  3. Seeking the Fire
  4. Gleaming Swords Howl

Since this release is an EP and not a full length, I will not go too much into detail but will give you my thoughts about this release.

First off, it’s comprised of 4 songs in total, with the first being an instrumental quick intro about what’s to follow.

The second song Burial Pact kicks in really heavy and excellent produced. The harshness that follows throughout the whole EP is just bone crushing Black Metal with some Death Metal influences here and there. The vocals are good like with a great mix of overall clarity and harshness. From a producer point of view, I really need to find out how he achieved that.

Seeking the fire, the third song, is by far my favourite of the entire ep with its reverb loaded bass intro before going into rumbling drums like in the mines of Moria and vocals like the Balrogg itself. I did, in fact, forget to write previously that this band ins heavily inspired by Lord of the Rings. Again, the production is really something else.

Conclusion

I truly enjoyed this ~20 min EP and will definitely check out more of Aaron’s Music. If you are a fan of Lord of the Rings and fast heavy Black Metal, give this EP a spin. You will not be disappointed.
