Introduction
Today’s review sees us looking at the newest release from big up and comers from Poland, Zorza, with their hard hitting sophomore LP "Twilight of the Golden Star".

Rumination
Zorza's first album "Hellven" was pretty strongly acclaimed when it came out for bringing a fresh mix of their brand of post black metal with some truly ferocious old school songwriting. With their 2nd album "Twilight of The Golden Star" it isobvious from the first couple tracks the band is trying to double down and make a bigger album for their sophomore release.
In terms of this release it’s interesting, the songs are well put together, and the production is great. The only thing I would possibly say I’m not huge on is having two guest vocalist songs because I generally don't think that adds much to albums, but that's just me. To their credit, JJ from Karg/Harakiri For The Sky sounds solid enough on both tracks.
FFor me, the highlight is more towards the middle and end of the album, where it feels more classic Zorza. The final track in particular "The Devil Wears Well" is very sick, almost sounding like old Carpathian Forest vibes but in that Zorza way.
The songwriting really has improved. They're definitely trying to position themselves as a big festival black metal band with some of these songs in terms of writing catchy tunes to smash into other people too.
Conclusion
Zorza has tried to up the ante since their debut LP and overall, it works pretty well. Fans of a big hi-fi black metal sound like Spectral Wound will likely get a lot out of this.
